{"id":323,"date":"2021-01-25T10:16:57","date_gmt":"2021-01-25T10:16:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lemotjuste.co.uk\/?p=323"},"modified":"2021-01-25T10:16:57","modified_gmt":"2021-01-25T10:16:57","slug":"jour-de-neige","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lemotjuste.co.uk\/index.php\/2021\/01\/25\/jour-de-neige\/","title":{"rendered":"Jour de neige"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Le mot du jour : &#8220;Jour de neige&#8221;<br>As we have enjoyed a lovely day of snow (&#8220;jour de neige&#8221;) yesterday, I thought I would make today a little list of words related to the snow \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first one to know is obviously &#8220;la neige&#8221; (the snow).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The snow itself is made of snowflakes that we call &#8220;des flocons&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;La neige&#8221; is feminine, but &#8220;les flocons&#8221; are masculine&#8230; French language \ud83d\ude43<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last but not least, the snowman is called &#8220;un bonhomme de neige&#8221; and not &#8220;un homme de neige&#8221;. So why &#8220;bon-homme&#8221; (good-man) instead of &#8220;homme&#8221; (man)?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, maybe because &#8220;bonhomme&#8221; carries a sense of gentleness that goes well with the round snowy character. I guess to translate the idea in English, it would be more a &#8220;snow-chap&#8221; or &#8220;snow-fellow&#8221; than a snowman.
