Le mot du jour : “tape-\u00e0-l’oeil”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When a French person says \nabout something that it is “tape-\u00e0-l’oeil” (something like “slap in the \neye”), it describes something flashy, showy. It’s not a compliment and \nis considered the opposite of “chic”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ex : “Je n’aime pas ses \nnouvelles chaussures, elles sont tr\u00e8s tape-\u00e0-l’oeil” (I don’t like her \nnew shoes, they are very flashy).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next week I’ll explain another expression almost similar but with a different meaning : taper dans l’oeil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
